What it does
By using the Track tool the user signals to the application that the current version of a file must be fixed. The Track tool records the changes made to a file, when it was recorded, and keywords, plus where possible a deep keyword indexing of the file’s contents. It adds to the detailed history of file modifications, ensuring you always know what changes were made, who made them, and when they occurred.
How it helps
You can easily inspect and manage changes, allowing you to maintain full control over your data. Whether working alone or collaborating with others, this feature ensures transparency by tracking modifications and allowing you to revert to previous versions if necessary. For instance, before sending a file as an attachment, it’s good to track it so it’s clear which version was sent off.
How to
- After making and saving a change in a file, click the green “Track” button.
- Optionally, add an annotation for your personal reference.
- The file version is now saved and visible in the tracking history, allowing you to review or restore past versions as needed.
For more details on restoring past versions, see the Seamless File Versioning section.
